    Looking for help or format on bank account statement request letter? There are times when you have to write to your bank asking for certain information that you need for whatever purpose. Most of the times, it is about confirmation of the amount of money lying in your account with the bank.

    However, a better way is to ask the bank to supply you with a bank account statement as it not only provides a confirmation of the account balance but also provides a list of the transactions you made during the period.

    In normal circumstances your bank would be supplying a monthly/quarterly statement of your bank account. However, some banks supply statements only on request due to reasons best known to them.

    There are also times when you may want a bank account statement for previous years for filing your income tax returns. Most banks will levy a charge for such statements. The charge usually depends upon how old the record is that you want.

    Please keep in mind that banks process all requests only if they are signed by the authorized signatory. While you would be sending the request letter under your signatures if you are the owner of the account, if it is a business banking account then make sure that the letter is signed by the person who signs checks.
